CRAZII TALK
By Erik Shea, Warned.net Columnist
Tuesday, June 11, 2006
When I was first approached to do this interview, I thought it would be easy, without a problem. Then I started thinking about what to write. And there were so many topics that I could write about, on such a grand occasion. But then none really seemed to fit. I guess I’ll start by first saying congratulations Johnny Mikels for surviving in a business that often chews and spits out most. Job well done. I’d also like to take this time to thank you for all you’ve done in supporting indy wrestling, in general, and all the individual indy workers that you gave time to push on your website. When you started, just like most in this business, you were green, somewhat naïve, but hungry as hell. Over the last few years, I’ve had the honor and the joy to pretty much be along side for the ride. What a transformation both you and your website have gone in such a short period of time.
Now that we’re finally over all the smiles, all the formalities, and niceness, we can get to where I wanted to go from here. To a little darker side of the business. And no I’m not talking about a few pay checks that everyone has been skipped on, nor am I talking about monster egos or drugs in the locker room. Everybody stereotypes that. I Could talk about the guys that put cruisers down, the guys that hold a cruiserweight back or cement him in opening spots, or maybe even a jealous booker, that kills an angle because your pop was better. But you know what, maybe that is putting all of the blame on the wrong guys. Maybe the blame goes to the people that step into a ring once a weekend (no training in between) and think they are going to be God’s gift to wrestling, without having to bust their ass. Yea, maybe that’s where it lies… or perhaps one of my favorites, as of late, I’ve even heard of a certain worker PAYING to go over on a more known talent… what in the blue hell… now I’m not trying to bitch too much, hell I could be Mana… for, who if any have seen, he deserves to be in WWE, had a great gimmick…WWE stole … Umaga doesn’t do it justice, and that’s all I’m going to say. At this point in the business, it seems like death isn’t even sacred. After all, isn’t life just one big work. But what do I know… that’s just CRAZII TALK.
